John Amoia

1958 - 2023

OBITUARY

John left us on October 7, 2023 to join his family in heaven. John was born on September 23, 1958. He was a gift to all who had the honor and pleasure to know him. His smile, laughter and antics will be missed by all.

John came to his Arc family in 1980. He worked in the Arc Greater Hudson Valley (formerly Arc Dutchess). He loved working and he enjoyed the day program as well. He participated in Special Olympics for many years. He loved cooking, fishing, roller-skating and watching movies with his Kent Rd family. John was a lover of music, Wooly Bully was his all-time favorite.

Predeceased by his father Anthony Donald Amoia, his twin brother Anthony Amoia, dear friends Margaret Myers, Jen White, Margaret DeRosa and Brenda Jones.

He is survived by Shania Robinson, his “wife”, Teresa Spencer, Tamia Haddad, De’shaun Cummings, Denzel “the Pastor” Bunn, Resean Tolbert “Big Sean”, Carolyn Pinnock, Shunta Cantela, Grace Merkle and his devoted Kent Rd. family. John loved sharing coffee and lunch with Rick DeVizio. John really enjoyed visiting and being visited by everyone in the maintenance department. He would guarantee a visit by taking apart a thing or two that they would need to fix. They always did it with a smile! John also loved to call his friend Chris Scott who would always be sure to note all of his requests. He is also survived by his friends Christine Henning and Terry Temple.

We would like to thank all of the nurses and staff at the Dumont Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing Care for the kind and compassionate care that John received there.
