Dr. Larry A. Ertrachter

1954 - 2025

OBITUARY

Dr. Larry A. Ertrachter, born on June 9, 1954, to proud parents Frances & Nathan Ertrachter (deceased). He passed away unexpectedly on April 15, 2025, at his cherished home in Hyde Park, New York. Born in The Bronx, Larry went on to attend NYU School of Medicine and dedicated his professional life to psychiatry throughout the Hudson Valley. For decades, he was a trusted, compassionate voice for his patients, who often noted his genuine care, insight, and signature sense of humor. Larry was deeply funny, unfiltered, and refreshingly unpretentious. He had a love for nature and enjoyed long walks, meals out, and listening to The Beatles (usually on repeat). His life was full of laughter, beloved routines, and countless inside jokes. Over the years, he earned a colorful collection of nicknames like “Goofball” and “Bag o’ Tomatoes” among the many affectionate titles bestowed upon him by those who knew and loved him. Though, he lived a life full of strong opinions and unique quirks, Larry cared deeply about his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years Bernice, son Zachary, daughter Rachel Wallace (Scott), mother Frances, sister Renee Pasquale (Anthony), nephew James (Amanda), and niece Darlene—as well as his many beloved pets, wonderful friends, and amazing coworkers who brightened his days and returned his affection in kind. Larry was laid to rest at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery. He leaves behind a legacy of laughter, authenticity, and care that will continue to echo through the lives of those who knew him. Please take long walks with your loved ones in memory of Larry.
